ofrenda
humbly offered in the spirit of dias de los muertos!
at a certain point i realized that so many creatures have lost their lives on our roads and highways without acknowledgement or any respect paid. they were not killed for food, their fur not used for clothing; their bones not fashioned into tools; the power of their tails or feathers or paws not transformed into a portion of ceremonial attire. no, killed by a machine and left for dead! jenny has a practice of saying ‘bless it’s sweet life’ when seeing a dead animal on the road. that inspired me to create an altar — an ofrenda — honoring as best i can, all the animals i encounter. here are a few from the ofrenda…
~~~~~ as there are pictures of dead or injured animals, it is understood that you are prepared to see them ~~~~~
