had a fabulous session the other day where i connected experiences relating to somatic body-mind centering teachings and gabor maté’s work around the harm associated with being dislocated. in my recent reverence ‘lost homes’ i came to terms with some of the loss i associated with moving so much as a young person.
i attached this quote to my ‘lost homes’ reverence…

By dislocation he means the loss of psychological, social, and economic integration into family and culture—a sense of exclusion, isolation, and powerlessness. ‘Only chronically and severely dislocated people are vulnerable to addiction,’ he writes.”

in my processing of all the dislocation i experienced from all of my moves, at first i expressed this as a great weight bearing down on me. then i recalled the body-mind centering teachings about developmental movement and could begin to feel the weight transform into the gravity that holds me in place on this earth. in BMC gravity underlies all movement, and this gravity is immensely supportive. this awareness suddenly transformed dislocation into embodiment, or what i shall be reflecting on further, embodied (dis) location…
